ECHEVERRIA DESIGN GROUP CREATING NEW PROTOTYPICAL SETTINGS FOR FORTUNOFF AT LORD & TAYLOR STORES
Fortunoff has commissioned The Echeverria Design Group to design and develop a new prototypical space to occupy a significant, centrally-situated sector within the ground floors of future Lord & Taylor department store in the U.S., advises Dominick Ponti, Vice President of Design and Construction for this leading fine jewelry firm, for many years a considerable factor in the north-east with an exceptionally loyal customer base.
EDG’s conceptual creation - a “luxurious, yet approachable,” seemingly stand-alone, 2500-square-foot setting - will debut in December at the Lord & Taylor in Garden City, Long Island, according to Mario Echeverria, founding principal of the award-winning, Coral Gables-based design firm.

TWO IN FLORIDA, ONE IN VIRGINIA AND ONE IN MASSACHUSETTS ECHEVERRIA DESIGN GROUP ELEVATING FOUR BLOOMINGDALES STORES
Bloomingdales has commissioned The Echeverria Design Group to provide comprehensive interior design services to enhance four of its department stores, two in Florida and one each in Virginia and Massachusetts, according to Mario Echeverria, the founding principal of this award-winning, Coral Gables-based design firm.
EDG is renovating Bloomingdales’ existing Intimate Apparel department at the Aventura Mall in Aventura, Florida to emulate the chain’s new prototypical department established in its Manhattan flagship store, while creating a new 2500-square-foot restaurant on the lower level of its existing three-story store in Newton, MA, at the Mall at Chestnut Hill. Expected to be completed by October and December, respectively, both projects entail special consideration so as to not impact these store’s day-to-day operations.
Fitting Room Upgrades in keeping with this company’s new prototypical “Customer Amenities” program are currently being implemented by EDG, similarly in conjunction with the Bloomingdales Store Planning & Design Department, at its stores in both Palm Beach Gardens, FL, at the Palm Beach Gardens Mall and in McLean, VA, at Tyson Corner Center.

THE ECHEVERRIA DESIGN GROUP TAKES TOP HONORS IN ASID DESIGN COMPETITION FOR ACQUALINA SALON
The Echeverria Design Group’s creative concept for an innovative new salon at Acqualina in Sunny Isles, FL, took top honors in the ’Retail / Showroom’ category of the 2008 Design Excellence Competition sponsored by the Florida South Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers.
The Richard & Company Hair Salon, a 1250-square-foot space on the mezzanine level of the Acqualina condominium, encompasses a retail sector and a hospitality station, as well as its reception area, manicure/pedicure and shampoo stations and changing area, with EDG’s comprehensive implementation of these designs credited for this design firm’s 80th national or regional design award. TWO IN FLORIDA, ONE IN PUERTO RICO, ONE IN ARIZONA ECHEVERRIA DESIGN GROUP DESIGNING FOUR MORE MACY’S
Macy’s has commissioned The Echeverria Design Group to provide comprehensive interior design services or four more Macy’s properties, two in Florida and one each in Arizona and Puerto Rico, according to Mario Echeverria, founding principal of the award-winning, Coral Gables-based design firm.
One of those Florida Macy’s – a new 140,000-square-foot, two-story department store opening this Fall in Wesley Chapel at The Shops of Wiregrass – will be the first in this state to introduce a significant selection of the newest generation of “Macy’s Prototype” design elements and selling concepts.
The second – an existing Macy’s in Jensen Beach at Treasure Coast Square Mall – will be an upgrade of all public spaces within this 140,000-square-foot, two-story structure, as well as the implementation of prototypical customer amenities. A singular challenge, says Echeverria, was to maintain its daily functioning during the course of its renovation.
Also projected to open this Fall, is a similarly renovated and upgraded 250,000-square-foot, three-story Macy’s in San Juan, Puerto Rico at Plaza Las Americas Mall that will include a new mall entrance and a “Macy’s Tastebar” restaurant, as well as new fitting and rest room facilities. EDG’s design team, led by Ian Tornquist, its director of planning and design, is composed of Rodel Reyes, Robert Dominguez, Marcela Gomez and, for EDG Architecture, Don Lockenbach.
A 120,000-square-foot, single-story Macy’s currently under construction in Gilbert, AZ, at Santan Village, will also be one of the first in the U.S. to introduce a significant amount of Macy’s Prototype design elements and selling concepts. It is projected to debut next Spring.

NEW MEDICAL FACILITY AT MIAMI INT’L AIRPORT BEING CREATED BY ECHEVERRIA DESIGN GROUP
The Echeverria Design Group is providing comprehensive space planning and interior design services for an innovative medical facility inaugurated at Miami International Airport, according to Jim Whitten, MIA’s senior vice president for marketing.
Some 1160 square feet of a second-floor space situated at Concourse F are being transformed into two examining rooms and additional state-of-the-art facilities intended to treat travelers in distress, which is soon to be opened.
EDG, whose founding principal is Mario Echeverria, is the largest Miami-based firm specializing in retail design according to The South Florida Business Journal. Currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, it consistently ranks among the top 50 nationwide, according to a survey complied by Display and Design Ideas (DDI) and Visual Merchandising and Store Design (VM+SD).

ECHEVERRIA DESIGN GROUP RENOVATING THE PALMS HOTEL ON MIAMI BEACH
The Echeverria Design Group is providing comprehensive space planning and interior design services for an its ongoing expansive reconfiguration and renovation of several public venues at The Palms Hotel on Miami Beach, according to Mario Echeverria, founding principal of the award-wining Coral Gables-based design firm.
Some 7,850 square feet of the hotel, which was built in 1939 and is located at 3025 Collins Avenue, are being transformed by the EDG team. A tropical theme featuring “casual and elegant décor” is being implemented for owner Hans Krause throughout its restaurant and meeting spaces.

MARIO ECHEVERRIA RECEIVES DCOTA’S “LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD”
Mario Echeverria, founding principal of the Coral Gables-based Echeverria Design Group, was honored in the keynote category of Lifetime Achievement when winners of the Design Center of America’s annual “Stars of Design” awards were revealed at its 2008 WINTERMARKET.
Award recipients – including honorees in the individual categories of interior design, architecture, product design, photography, landscape design, graphic design and art – were selected by a panel of design professionals and members of the media, advises Charles S. Cohen, DCOTA President / CEO.
Echeverria, who inaugurated EDG in 1982, is a professional member of both the Institute of Store Planners and the International Interior Design Association and an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers. A member of the Design Advisory Boards of Miami-Dade College and Florida International University, he also served as the Keynote Speaker this year for ASID’s Student Career Day.

VIVI, NOAH II AND THE BENTLEY BEACH POOL & PATIO ECHEVERRIA DESIGN GROUP CREATING MULTIPLE DINING VENUES AT BENTLEY BEACH HOTEL ON SOUTH BEACH
The Echeverria Design Group is providing comprehensive space planning and interior design services for alternative dining venues, both inside and out, at the Bentley Beach Hotel at 101 Ocean drive near the southernmost point of Miami Beach, according to Mario Echeverria, founding principal of the award-winning, Coral Gables-based design firm.
Vivi, featuring fine contemporary Italian cuisine, recently inaugurated a 4,700-square-foot streetside site designed by the EDG team. Seating in excess of 200, it is owned by Tom Billante, for whom EDG previously designed Bellagio in Naples, Mezzanotes at Fort Lauderdale’s Riverwalk and also in Ybor city, Villagio in Coral Gables, Luna Café and Carpaccio in Bal Harbour, Miami Beach.
Noah II – another Billante restaurant, but situated on the Oceanside and specializing in seafood – will open in January. While also seating some 200, this multi-functional 4,500-sqaure-foot venue readily converts to host meetings and assorted special events of varying sizes.
The Bentley Beach Pool & Patio, a final venue projected to open next year, will encompass cabanas and assorted fiber-optic features composed by a team composed of Echeverria. Tornquist and Weber. Additional clients of EDG, which specializes in interior design, space planning, merchandising allocation and construction management, include retail giants like Macy’s and Serta, as well as assorted restaurants, art galleries, showrooms, healthcare facilities, public spaces and upscale residences throughout the Americas and abroad.

ECHEVERRIA DESIGN GROUP TOTALLY REDESIGNING MACY’S AT MASSACHUSETTS’ NORTHSHORE MALL
Macy’s Inc. commissioned the Echeverria Design Group to provide comprehensive interior design services for an expansive Macy’s property anchoring the Northshore Mall in Peabody, Massachusetts, according to Mario Echeverria, founding principal of the award-winning, Coral Gables-based design firm.
Two Macy’s properties – its 219,000-square-foot Apparel store and neighboring 114,000-square-foot Men’s store, the latter a former Lord & Taylor’s – will be completely renovated under the direction of an EDG team. EDG is collaborating on this project with Andrew Brezina, Macy’s operational vice president for planning. The Men’s store is projected for completion by next January; the apparel store by September 2008.

The Echeverria Design Group has provided comprehensive space planning and interior design service for IL Gabbiano, the 6500-square-foot upscale Italian restaurant that recently opened on the lobby level of One Miami, a new condominium tower built by The Related Group at 325 South Biscayne Boulevard. The restaurant accommodates in excess of 200, including al fresco seating alongside Biscayne Bay, according to owners Gino and Fernando Masci whose IL Mulino was one of New York City’s dining landmarks.

The Echeverria Design Group’s creative designs for American Mattress’ showroom in Las Vegas and Vivi, a restaurant in South Beach, took top honors in, respectively, both the Retail / Showroom and Hospitality categories of the recent 2007 Design Excellence Competition sponsored by the Florida South Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers.
EDG’s comprehensive concept for American Mattress is the second award-winning national bedding showcase designed by the Coral Gables-based firm: a showroom designed for Serta Bedding, also in Las Vegas, won first prize in the 2006 Retail Store of The Year Design Competition sponsored annually by Chain Store Age, a prestigious trade publication, and also in the ASID Design Excellence Competition Retail/Showroom category that same year.

ECHEVERRIA DESIGN GROUP RENOVATING AND EXPANDING CARPACCIO AT THE BAL HARBOUR SHOPS
The Echeverria Design Group is providing comprehensive space planning, interior design and interior architectural services to completely remodel and expand Carpaccio, the renowned Italian restaurant on the ground floor of The Bal Harbour Shops, advises owners Tom Billante, Alex Kalas and Piero Filpi.
An additional 1500 square feet of interior space are being added, including a new bar environment and an extended kitchen, according to Mario Echeverria, the Coral Gables-based firm’s founding principal. However, while Carpaccio’s premises will be gutted, this will be a phased renovation, adds Echeverria. When completed in November, the reconfigured restaurant will encompass some 4100 square feet and seat 230, including its patio.

ECHEVERRIA DESIGNING NEW FACILITIES IN HIALEAH FOR UTILITY TRAILER SALES AND LEASING
Utility Trailer Sales and Leasing has commissioned The Echeverria Design Group to provide comprehensive space planning and design services to convert the interiors – and modify the exterior – of an existing 12,400-square-foot, two–story building at 1451 SE 9t Court in Hialeah into an essentially new facility to accommodate its entire Miami-based operations, advises CEO Peter Verbeeck.
Conveniently, located only five minutes from Miami International Airport, Utility International’s new facility will incorporate every aspect of the company, including its showroom and parts center as well as its executive, administrative and sales offices, Verbeeck, adds.

AWARD-WINNING SOUTH FLORIDA DESIGN FIRM CREATING SERTA’S FIRST NATIONAL SHOWCASE IN LAS VEGAS
Florida-based Echeverria Design group is providing comprehensive interior design, space planning and documentation services for the inaugural national showcase of Serta Bedding, an elaborate, prototypical 6,200-square-foot facility that will debut in Las Vegas in July 2005, advises Barbara Bradford, that manufacturer’s senior vice president for marketing and merchandising.
Serta’s expansive showroom is to occupy a strategic site at Vegas’ new World Market Center, now under construction, according to Echeverria, who inaugurated his namesake Coral Gables firm in 1982.

EDG-SOUTH FLORIDA RETAIL SPECIALISTS – RENOVATING TEN MACY’S PROPERTIES IN FLORIDA, SIX IN CALIFORNIA
Macy's has commissioned The Echeverria design group to provide comprehensive planning, interior design and documentation services for the storewide installation of various wide-ranging customer incentives at an additional 15 Macy’s properties in accord with its “New Initiatives 2005” program, advises Steven Bergquist, Macy’s operational vice president for design.
Ten Macy’s East stores are involved in this undertaking, including Altamonte, Florida Mall, Oviedo and Seminole in or near Orlando and, in or near Tampa, Brandon, Citrus Mall, Countryside, new Port Richey, Tyrone and University Mall. Four others – located in Flushing, White Plains and Manhasset, New York, and in Rockaway, New Jersey – were previously serviced by EDG.
Another five, all Macy’s West stores in or near Sacramento and similarly being updated by EDG, include the Arden Fair shopping Center, two at Sacramento’s Downtown Plaza, another at Citrus Heights and one at Sunrise Mall.
